Since it’s inception, Broadlands Dental has provided comprehensive family dentistry to thousands of patients in an environment where patients' needs come first. Our emphasis is on maintaining ideal oral health through prevention, education, restoring and rebuilding healthy smiles with optimal function and esthetics.
Our Therapist, Hygienist or Dentist will assist in the prevention and treatment of oral disease while focusing on periodontal health by monitoring oral hygiene practices. A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and dental staff to preserve the the teeth and gums by preventing the onset, progress, recurrence of dental diseases and conditions.
Infants should be seen by a dentist by the child’s first birthday. By this time the baby’s first teeth/primary teeth are erupting and it’s a critical time to spot any problems before they become worse. It is essential that a child’s primary teeth are healthy since their development sets the stage for permanent teeth. Dentists/Therapists are there to help families address oral health needs and teach children how to look after their mouths. We help parents to understand their child’s oral health and address any anxieties so that children may enjoy a positive dental experience. Each child needs a dental care plan to prevent tooth decay, gum inflammation and related health conditions.
We offer appointments and services for a wide range of dental emergencies. The following conditions are examples of dental emergencies that should be treated by a dentist as soon as possible.

We recommend that you visit the dentist every six months for a routine examination and cleaning. This frequency allows dentists to catch problems early and treat them accordingly.
We recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows you to fill out our patient forms and provide dental insurance information before the appointment
We advise that you floss every other night before bed time.
A first tooth usually appears between 6 and 10 months. Typically the first teeth to come in are the lower front teeth. We recommend that you use the FIRST rule when deciding when to bring your child in for their first visit. FIRST tooth or FIRST birthday
Yes! Baby teeth are extremely important and should be cared for properly. They allow children to speak, smile and eat. They also play a role in ensuring that permanent teeth erupt properly. Failure to care for them may result in pain, speech difficulties, malnutrition, confidence decline and orthodontic challenges.
Yes, it is important that you go for your regular dental checks during pregnancy. Hormone changes increase the risk of periodontal disease so we encourage expectant mothers to come in for a dental visit. Treatment during every trimester is safe. However, the second trimester is the safest trimester in which to get dental treatment. We pride ourselves in putting the health and safety of mother and baby first.
It is important to act quickly if your tooth gets knocked out. Pick it up by the crown (the white part that is visible in the mouth) and not the root then place it in milk. Alternatively hold it in your cheek or underneath your tongue until you see the dentist. Go to a dentist as soon as possible.
Tooth sensitivity is characterized by a sharp, temporary pain or discomfort after having hot or cold foods, chewing or brushing teeth. There are many causes of tooth sensitivity such as worn enamel due to acidic foods & hard tooth brushes/brushing, broken teeth, grinding and gum recession to name a few. Treatment for sensitivity includes fluoride treatment, fillings, tooth cleaning and tooth pastes or gels. Visit your dentist to find out more about how to prevent or treat sensitivity!
